Jimmy Savage commenced his safety career in 2004 working for Duggan Bros. Contractors, one of Ireland’s leading general building and civil engineering contractors, scope of projects worked on included; hotels, hospital, schools, commercial and residential builds.

In 2006 I moved jobs to work for a specialist formwork company called Leinster Formwork who at the time were employing 120 people, during my time with the company I got to work on some large scale civils projects including the Waterford City Bypass.

In 2008 I made a transition from construction safety to manufacturing safety through a role of safety & training/development manager with Dew Valley Foods Ltd., based in Thurles, who are the largest cooked bacon manufacturer in Europe.

In 2011 I moved into the role of EHS Manager with PPI Adhesive Products Ltd., who are an IPPC licenced adhesive tape manufacturer based in Waterford. During my time with the company I successfully developed and environmental management system and was successful in obtaining certification for the company to ISO 14001:2004.

In 2016 I moved into the role of EHS Manager with Winthrop Engineering Ltd., one of Ireland’s largest Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Companies. Predominantly working on large scale projects within the pharma and healthcare sectors. During my time with the company I successfully developed and environmental management system and was successful in obtaining certification for the company to ISO 14001:2015, maintaining certification to OHSAS 18001:2007 and successfully maintained ‘A’ grade certification to Construction Safety Management System ‘Safe-T-Cert.
In October 2016 Winthrop Engineering Ltd., was awarded the ‘Bronze Award’ in the NISO Annual All Ireland Occupational Safety Awards. In October 2017 the company again received recognition of its continuing high safety standards by being awarded ‘The President’s Award for Large Organisation’ in the NISO Annual All Ireland Occupational Safety Awards.
